Solid and versatile

I employed these fresh cut willow stakes as supports for willow spiling (bioengineering approach to river bank erosion and bank stabilisation) earlier this year. Obviously there was some variability in the dimensions and shape of the stakes, but all were cut to a specified length, trimmed of all lateral growth, and were cut to a point. Great for quick work with a post knocker. If you don't have a knocker to hand, a lump hammer would do but try to protect the top of the stakes to prevent any avoidable splitting. Thanks to their natural strength and pointed tips, they drove well in gravel, shingle as well as sand/muddy sediment.
I have used chestnut stakes from other suppliers in the past, but these willow stakes seemed far stronger and I will be using them again for similar works.
